Compas-Y is an app that gives newly diagnosed cancer patients a helping hand. The app teaches its users’ compassion skills that help them deal with the (emotional) consequences of a cancer diagnosis. Commissioned by the faculty of Behavioral Management and Social Sciences (BMS) of the University Twente, DTT started developing Compas-Y.

The app consists of 6 modules spread over 6 weeks. Each module contains a set of reflective exercises, (psycho-educational) explanations, and audio exercises. All this information is delivered in various outlets such as animations, text, and illustrations. With these different exercises, Compas-Y helps cancer patients normalize their feelings and give them some form of support during this difficult period.

After the 6 modules have all been completed, users can still repeat their favorite exercises. A list of their favorite exercises is created that is easily accessible from the homepage. Besides, the app continues to send positive push notifications.

''DTT has built two Progressive Web Apps for us for our positive psychological training of self-compassion and gratitude. With the beautiful designs we have been able to test the effectiveness of our training courses in scientific research.

I have experienced DTT as a pleasant organization to work with in the development of our apps. They are good at thinking along and always adhere perfectly to the agreements. In addition, they respond adequately when necessary. I was happy with the result.”
