Usability testing for apps, websites and games
An app, game or website must be user-friendly and meet users' expectations. That sounds obvious, but in practice it often turns out differently. What works well, what causes doubt or frustration, and where are the opportunities to improve the experience?
With usability testing, we investigate how users actually experience your digital solution. We identify what works well, where bottlenecks arise and what improvements enhance the user experience. This allows us to make insights concrete and directly applicable.
On this page, you can read how we use usability testing for apps, games and web solutions. Feel free to contact us for custom advice without any obligation.

How do we work?
01
Together we create a results-oriented test plan
Getting users to effortlessly swipe or click to their goal? Engage more customers with a conversion-oriented website? Or offer your target audience an exceptional learning experience and make more impact?
First we focus on the main goal of the app, website or game, then we create a result-oriented test plan. We determine the test goal and which insights we want to gain. Then we determine which users should be the focus of the usability testing and which testing method fits best.
02
Together we create a results-oriented test plan
We first discuss the testing goal and determine what insights we want to uncover. Then we determine which users should be the focus of the usability testing and which testing method is most appropriate. We discuss the content of the advisory report and create a schedule to execute the Quick Scan or the comprehensive test plan.
03
We select testers from the target audience
Most solutions appeal to multiple audiences. Together we look at which target group(s) are most valuable for this user test.
We look for testers who match the solution's target audience as closely as possible. If the solution is already being used, we can make a call to the active users.
We proactively support in assembling a representative group of testers, we do this in an appropriate way that suits your project and situation.

Here’s what to expect
An accessible and comprehensive advisory report
After completing the usability tests, we analyse all insights and translate them into a clear and accessible advisory report. In this report, we summarise the most important observations and provide concrete recommendations for improvements, optimisations and enhancements that contribute to the set goals. In this way, we offer guidance and certainty for the further development of the solution.

SUPPLEMENTAL
A compelling presentation of the results
As an additional option to the advisory report, we can translate the findings from the user test into a clear presentation for stakeholders and decision-makers. We will agree on the format together, for example in the form of a visual presentation or a short video that clearly highlights the most important insights. This gives you a powerful tool for sharing results and creating support.

SUPPLEMENTAL
Further development based on usability testing and analytics
A usability test provides valuable insights at a specific moment in time. To secure and further deepen these insights, we provide support in setting up the right analytics and measurement points. This allows us to gain structural insight into user behaviour and to monitor and adjust improvements in a substantiated manner.
Based on this data, we implement targeted improvements and test iteratively to determine what has the most effect. We remain involved as a specialist and strategic partner, ensuring that the user experience continues to develop and contributes structurally to the set objectives.

SUPPLEMENTAL
Digital accessibility and WCAG compliance
Digital accessibility is often a requirement. Apps and websites must comply with WCAG guidelines and be accessible to users with different skills and limitations.
During usability testing, we often identify initial accessibility issues. To achieve full coverage, we look beyond ease of use and systematically map out the adjustments needed to comply with the guidelines.
In this way, we combine user insights with legislation and regulations and work towards a solution that is both user-friendly and demonstrably digitally accessible.

Frequently asked questions
Why is usability testing for apps important?
The bar for optimal user experience in apps is high. Steps should follow one another logically, and users expect to be able to swipe or click effortlessly toward their objective. Intuitively and with minimal text for clarification.
With usability testing for apps, we test whether your app meets these expectations. The customer journeys within the app are scrutinized. Obstacles are exposed, as well as opportunities to make the stories run even smoother.
For more happy users, higher ratings and maximum results.
Why is usability testing for games important?
A serious game must also be fun. The components of the game should be understandable for everyone, so that all players can finish the game without problems. Smooth, fast and intuitive, so the player can fully focus on the content and objectives of the game.
With usability testing for games, we watch several players while playing the game. This allows us to determine whether the game contributes optimally to achieving their (learning) goals. We expose the bottlenecks and determine what possibilities there are to improve the game.
For an optimal playing experience, more knowledge and more impact.
Why is usability testing for Websites important?
To reach, engage and engage your target audience, a website needs to be user-friendly and conversion-oriented - both on desktop and mobile. With logical navigation and conversion-oriented elements that easily lead the target group to the desired call-to-action.
With usability testing for websites, we test the behavior of website visitors. We find out how they navigate through the website and whether they can easily find what they are looking for. We determine whether the conceived customer journey corresponds to reality and how it can be optimized.
For greater reach, a better customer journey and more conversion.
What specifically does usability research provide me with?
Satisfied users and more results. Very briefly. That is, when you use the insights gained from a usability study to implement improvements in the app, website or game.
A usability research clearly shows which adjustments can provide a better user experience. The better the experience, the easier it is to make a purchase, absorb new learning or achieve another goal. And that benefits both you and your target audience.
What is the difference between user testing and usability testing?
With user testing, we gain insights into the exact needs and goals of the target audience. Usability testing then gives us insight into the user's experience while fulfilling these needs or achieving the goals.
How long does a usability testing test plan take?
The duration of a test plan depends entirely on the objectives. For example, you can test the user experience of one functionality or the entire solution. Often, with a Quick Scan, we can gain valuable insights to improve the solution within just a few days. We also conduct test plans where we get to work with a variety of objectives and with different users and customer journeys. These comprehensive test plans can take several weeks to complete.
How many users are on a usability test panel?
The number of testers used during a usability study depends entirely on the type of solution, the purpose and the testing objectives. On average, a test panel consists of between 5 and 20 users.
How much does it cost to perform usability testing?
The cost of usability testing depends on the objectives and scope of the study. A comprehensive test plan requires a larger investment than a Quick Scan. Please feel free to contact us, we are happy to discuss the possibilities further with you.
What are the costs of making improvements?
In an advisory report, we provide advice on which improvements will help achieve key objectives. In doing so, we also indicate which improvements will yield the most results - now and in the future. This allows us to set priorities together and implement the desired improvements in phases - step by step - within the reserved budget.
What is the difference between the user experience (UX) and customer journey?
The customer journey is the journey the customer or user takes to achieve a certain objective. On the website, in a game or when using an app. The positive and negative emotions, obstacles or convenience that the user may experience during the customer journey create the experience: the User Experience.
