RIVM Tick bite awareness app 2.0

Following the success of the Tekenbeet app, the application has undergone a style update. In addition to a style update, users can now navigate directly from the app to the Lyme Disease Expertise Centre and the Tekenradar website.

The Tekenbeet app informs users about ticks and Lyme disease. The app offers multiple features for preventing tick bites and the associated dangers. The Tekenradar provides users with immediate insight into the current and ten-day forecast of the activity level of the nymph stage of the tick. If desired, users can also receive push notifications when the activity level of the nymph stage exceeds a critical threshold. Forewarned is forearmed.

The Tick Bite app also offers various instructions for users in the form of text, images and video. These instructions enable users to check themselves or others for tick bites, remove a tick from the body or treat a tick bite. The “tick diary” in the app allows users to compile a report of the bite and its consequences. The relevant input fields in this app enable users to show a complete report to their doctor if necessary.

In addition to the app, a handy CMS has also been created for the Tick Bite app. The CMS allows the content in the app to be modified and push notifications to be sent.

"The RIVM (National Institute for Public Health and Environment) had the ""Tick bite"" app launched in April 2014. This app was initially developed for Android. With this app people can check what ticks are and how to correctly remove them (even without internet connection!). Starting from July 2014 the app will be available for iOS also. In the beginning we have spoken with a number of potential executors and we chose for DTT. What struck us was that from the very start DTT was very involved in the issue and the development of the app. The rates were reasonable and certainly played a role in choosing DTT. During our collaboration, we got to know Jeffrey and Dirk better. We emailed and called each other so often, we even noticed the urge to contact them when it wasn't even necessary. I think that says enough! In short, DTT has been a great partner to develop an app. They are reliable and always up for a joke. Great job!"
