A smart application of Artificial Intelligence can make information available faster, process requests or take over recurring work. The value emerges when employees actually use that support. That requires attention to their work, their questions and their expectations. Whether you still want to introduce AI or have already launched your first application: AI adoption deserves a place in your approach.
What is AI adoption?
AI adoption is the process in which employees learn to use AI and incorporate it into their daily work. They understand what the application is suitable for, can assess its output and know when their own expertise is still needed.
With an AI integration, for example, you add a smart search function to a business app. Adoption becomes visible when employees use that function to answer questions and can move on with their work more quickly. The technical delivery and the day-to-day use therefore both deserve attention.
Five tips for successful AI adoption
1. Involve employees before the introduction
The people who work with a process every day know where time is lost and which exceptions need attention. That is why you should let them review and test the application during development. This helps the application fit their work better and gives employees a say in their new way of working.
2. Make the added value recognisable
A general promise about productivity says little about a working day. Show specifically which tasks become easier. Think of an employee who receives an answer with a source reference and therefore has to search through fewer documents. This makes it clear what the application adds and what someone can use it for.
3. Practise with real work
A demonstration gives a first impression. Practising yourself shows how the application works in everyday tasks. Use familiar documents and questions, also discuss incorrect or incomplete answers and leave room to share experiences. This way, employees learn both the possibilities and the limits.
4. Agree on use and verification
Uncertainty can be a reason to leave AI unused. Record which information employees are allowed to enter, which output they need to check and who they can turn to with questions. With an assistant based on in-house expertise, accessible source references make it easier to review and assess answers.
5. Keep improving after launch
Regularly ask what helps and where employees get stuck. Low usage can point to unclear explanations, but also to a cumbersome function or results that are not useful enough. Combine that feedback with usage figures and look at the complete task, including checks and corrections. This shows which improvement deserves the most attention.
A usable solution as the foundation
Bringing employees along starts with the choices you make about the digital solution. Does the function fit their work? Is the result understandable? Can they easily check it and carry on? DTT brings these questions together in the design, development and continued development of software, apps and platforms.
