The B2B start-up Inner Smile Company helps organisations to measure and systematically improve life satisfaction.

Together with Inner Smile Company, we developed a scalable digital platform in which scientific research into happiness and well-being has been translated into a practical solution for organisations.

From scientific basis to rapid validation

The challenge for Inner Smile Company was clear: how do you design a data-driven platform that quantifies life satisfaction, provides insight into personal growth and gives real-time feedback on the effectiveness of interventions — whilst fully safeguarding the privacy and autonomy of the participant?

The ambition was to create a B2B platform that could be deployed via a licensing model and deliver value to a diverse target audience — from employees to HR and management. At its core lay complex subject matter that is not readily accessible to these groups. Translating theory into an understandable and scalable product formed the starting point of our collaboration.

From kick-off to launch in ten weeks

To deliver value quickly, we opted for a pilot approach, focusing on speed and user insights as the foundation for data-driven further development. In record time, we ran a pilot with real users, enabling us to learn and make adjustments immediately based on real-world data.

Within ten weeks of the kick-off, the platform went live and the first users were able to get started. Through an effective preliminary phase, we worked together to strip the concept back to its essence and developed a robust MVP that delivered immediate value within organisations.

From pilot to scalable platform

Through continuous testing and refinement, a robust, future-proof digital solution was developed. The solution has thus evolved into a fully-fledged platform.

Three platforms are now live, each tailored to a specific role within organisations:

  • The employee platform, where employees measure their job satisfaction through regular mood surveys, gain insight into their personal development via their own happiness wheel – a visual representation of their wellbeing based on scientifically substantiated data – and make use of practical tools such as breathing exercises. Always under the supervision of a personal Happiness Coach who continuously monitors mood and proactively initiates contact.
  • The coach platform, where Happiness Coaches view and analyse measurements and progress and provide targeted support to employees through personal communication. Actions and communication proposals are supported by AI and smart criteria, enabling coaches to follow up efficiently via chat or WhatsApp.
  • The management and organisation platform, where Inner Smile organisations manage employees, teams and Happiness Coaches and gain insight into life satisfaction at team and company level. The platform also supports the management of queries, questionnaires and knowledge articles, with full privacy safeguards.

By working in phases – moving from one pilot to the next – these features have been added step by step based on user insights. In this way, we are building a sustainable, data-driven and budget-conscious platform that grows in line with the ambitions of Inner Smile and its clients.
